No. 21 Baseball Routs James Madison to Win Fifth Straight Sun Belt Series

HARRISONBURG, Va. — No. 21 Coastal Carolina secured its fifth straight Sun Belt Conference series win, rolling to a 14-4 victory over James Madison in seven innings on Saturday afternoon at Eagle Field.

The Chanticleers (32-11, 16-4 Sun Belt) jumped on the Dukes early with three runs in the first and five more in the second to take control. Coastal's offense wore down James Madison pitching by drawing four walks and getting hit by five pitches.

Cameron Flukey (4-1) earned the win, striking out nine over six innings without issuing a walk. Coastal's offense pounded out 11 hits. Matt Joyce came in to pitch a scoreless seventh inning.

Ty Dooley launched a two-run homer as part of a five-run fourth, pushing Coastal's lead to 13-3. The game ended early via the Sun Belt's 10-run rule. Ty Barrango paced the offense with a three-hit day, while Walker Mitchell and Dooley each drove in three runs.

James Madison (13-30, 6-14 Sun Belt) got a two-run homer from Mike Langley but couldn't overcome Coastal's big innings.
