CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Former Coastal Carolina center
Colin Granger has signed with the NFL's Carolina Panthers as a tight end, the organization announced Monday. Listed a 6-feet-9 and 225 lbs., Granger is the tallest player on the organization's roster.
According to the organization's release, this is "Granger's first foray into football."
"This isn't surprising for me knowing Colin," CCU head coach
Justin Gray said. "He is one of the most committed athletes I've ever coached. I told him before he'd be successful in anything because he's always been disciplined and attacks everything with all he has. Those are the ingredients that bring success, and he possesses those. He knows the work has just begun and we are all here to support him."
Granger wrapped up his five-year collegiate career with the Chanticleers this past season, averaging 7.2 points and 4.4 rebounds in 17.8 minutes per game as a graduate.
Granger began his collegiate career at Ohio University before transferring to Western Carolina following his sophomore season.
