MONTGOMERY, ALA. — The top-seeded Coastal Carolina Chanticleers opens its run for a postseason title Wednesday, facing ninth seed Georgia Southern in the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship presented by Troy University in Montgomery, Ala. The Chants closed out the regular season as one of the hottest teams in college baseball with 14-straight overall wins, 18-straight league wins and six-consecutive Sun Belt weekend series sweeps. STREAKS, STORYLINES, SIDEBARS
ALPHABET SOUP: Coastal sits at No. 11 in the NCAA RPI and played one of the 13 toughest nonconference schedules. The Chants have won 14-straight games and rank as high as No. 8 in the Baseball America poll.
BACK TO MONTGOMERY: Coastal will be playing in its eighth Sun Belt Conference Championship Tournament this week, having won the postseason championship event in both 2018 and 2019.
SBC AWARDS BONANZA: Jacob Morrison was named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year and Kevin Schnall earned the Ron Maestri Coach of the Year Award while Morrison, Cameron Flukey and Caden Bodine were named First-Team All-Sun Belt honorees with Dominick Carbone earned Second-Team All-Sun Belt accolades.
OTHER AWARDS: Morrison was named a semifinalist for the the Dick Howser Trophy and Golden Spikes Award while Bodine earned a semifinalist spot from the Buster Posey Award.
TITLE TOWN AGAIN: With Friday's victory at ODU, Coastal Carolina claimed its 20th all-time regular season conference championship and first Sun Belt crown since 2023.
OUCH: The Chants lead the NCAA and Sun Belt Conference with 151 hit by pitches. Walker Mitchell's 28 lead the way individually for the Chants.
SALUTE TO SKIP: Head Coach Kevin Schnall led Coastal to its 34th win of the season on April 29 at UNCG, making him the all-time winningest first-year coach in program history, surpassing the 33 wins of Larry Carr in 1978.
PACKING SPRINGS BROOKS: Nearly 80,000 fans came through the turnstiles at Springs Brooks Stadium during the regular season (79,287). The Chants averaged 2,936 fans for 27 home contests and set the largest crowd in school history with 5,300 packing SBS against Clemson.
