ATLANTA — Two more Coastal Carolina University baseball players heard their names called on Monday, the second day of the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft.
RHP
Riley Eikhoff was first off the board, going to the Chicago White Sox in the ninth round with pick 256. RHP
Matthew Potok was next, going in the 18th round to the Philadelphia Phillies with pick 551.
They join catcher
Caden Bodine (pick 30, Baltimore Orioles) and RHP
Jacob Morrison (pick 95, Milwaukee Brewers), who were chosen on the first day of the draft.
RHP Riley Eikhoff — Round 9 • #256 • Chicago White Sox
Eikhoff was part of a three-headed monster of a starting rotation that saw Coastal post the second-best team ERA and WHIP in the nation this season.
He saved his best campaign for last, finishing 7-2 with 3.10 ERA, striking out 71 in 90.0 innings pitched. He scattered 11 walks on the season, finishing No. 4 in the NCAA with 1.1 walks allowed per nine innings.
Under the tutelage of pitching coach
Matt Williams, D1Baseball's Assistant Coach of the Year, Eikhoff's ERA dropped nearly two whole runs to 3.10, his strikeout rate went from 6.7 per nine innings to 7.1 and his walk rate dropped from an already-low 1.8 per nine innings to a microscopic 1.1.
He earned a spot on the Conway All-Region team in 2025 after posting a gem in the regional championship game against East Carolina. Eikhoff threw 95 pitches over 7.1 innings and stranded seven ECU baserunners.
Dominick Carbone entered with one out in the eighth and shut the door with 12 pitches, retiring all five batters he faced. The duo combined for the shutout and held East Carolina to 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
RHP Matthew Potok — Round 18 • #551 • Philadelphia Phillies
Potok was a steady force out of the bullpen for one of the top pitching staffs in the country during Coastal Carolina's record-setting 2025 season.
The right-hander appeared in 21 games, posting a 4–1 record, one save and a 2.52 ERA across 35.2 innings. He struck out 33 batters while allowing just eight walks and limiting opponents to a .254 batting average.
Potok delivered several high-leverage performances in the second half of the season, including 3.0 scoreless innings with four strikeouts against Arkansas State, a 4.0-inning relief win over App State, and three scoreless outings combined in the Sun Belt Championship, NCAA Super Regional and Men's College World Series. In three NCAA Tournament appearances, Potok logged 5.0 innings with two strikeouts and a 2–0 record.
