HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Coastal Carolina opened Sun Belt Conference play with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-18) sweep of Marshall at the Cam Henderson Center on Friday night, opening its SBC schedule with a win for the 10th consecutive season.

The Chanticleers are now 8-4 overall and 1-0 in the Sun Belt, while the Herd falls to 8-5 on the year and 0-1 in the Sun Belt.Â
Jalyn Stout logged a match-high 11 kills for the Chanticleers as she hit .529 with 11 assists for her 11th double-double of the season. She finished one dig shy of an NCAA record-setting 40th triple-double.
Anna Rita also posted a double-digit scoring night for the Chants as she had eight kills on 13 swings with nine block assists and a pair of digs to complete a 12.5 point scoring night.

Anzley Rinard scored 13.0 points with seven kills, one solo block, four block assists, and a season-best three service aces.
Emily Fowler had 10.0 points on seven kills with a solo stuff and four block assists.
Ava Wallis also logged double-digit assists for the 12th straight match with 19.

Coastal hit .326 for the match and forced Marshall into a .121 hitting percentage. CCU only had 11 hitting errors as a team, compared to 20 by the Herd. The Chants collected 15 total blocks and had only four of their attacks blocked. It was the Chants' seventh straight win over Marshall and their fourth consecutive sweep.Â

QUICK SET SYNOPSISÂ
• After falling behind 1-0, the Chanticleers scored 15 of the following 19 points to take a 10-point lead and were never threatened in their 25-12 opening frame win. Rinard had four kills and two blocks, while Rita and Stout had three kills each.Â
• Coastal Carolina scored five straight points, including two service aces from Rinard, to turn a two-point deficit into a three-point lead, 14-11. The Herd got within a point three times, but the Chants never surrendered the lead in the 25-21 second set victory. Fowler hit .571 in the frame, connecting on 5-of-7 swings.Â
• The Chants jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the third set and used a 5-0 run, receiving two kills from Stout and an ace from Wallis, to double up the Herd, 16-8. Marshall battled back to get within four, 21-17, but Coastal ended the frame on a 4-1 run, getting two more kills from Stout, to close out the match, 25-18.Â
NOTES & STATSÂ
• Coastal Carolina improved to 7-1 all-time against Marshall and 7-0 in Sun Belt Conference play.Â
• The Chants improved to 6-0 when collecting double-digit blocks this season.Â
• Stout recorded her 62nd career double-double and Wallis her eighth.Â
• Rinard tied her career-high for service aces with three. She had a pair of three-match service aces as a freshman at Oral Roberts last season.Â
• Rita matched her career-high for block assists with nine, equaling her total against Eastern Kentucky at Austin Peay a year ago.Â
