HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -
Jalyn Stout posted her third consecutive triple-double and the Coastal Carolina volleyball team rallied from a first-set loss to defeat Marshall, 3-1 (21-25, 25-13, 25-20, 25-17), on Saturday at the Cam Henderson Center.
The Chanticleers (9-4, 2-0 Sun Belt), who had four players with double-digit kills, hit a combined .331 in the victory.
Emily Fowler hit .706 (12-0-17) with three service aces, three digs, and two blocks, while CCU received an 11-1-15 (.667) line from junior
Anna Rita, who added five blocks. Stout recorded a match-high 15 kills to go along with 22 assists and 12 digs, and
Emma Van Elslande had 10 kills with six digs, three service aces, and two blocks.
Coastal entered the match on a 15-set winning streak against Marshall, having swept the Herd each of the previous two seasons. The Herd broke that streak with its first set victory. The Chants responded decisively in the final three frames, holding MU to hitting percentages of .030, .081, and .189, registering 11 blocks.

Steve Loeswick said. "We put a focus on what is our identity going to be this week, and I thought we came out and executed Coastal Carolina volleyball. It's great feeling to go on the road to start conference play and come away with two wins."
Emma Barnett led Marshall (8-7, 0-2 Sun Belt) with 13 kills. Emma Sayre had a match-high 17 digs, and Bella Thompson distributed 24 assists.
QUICK SET SYNOPSIS

Set One: Marshall ended the first set on a 10-2 run to take the opening set, 25-21. Coastal built a 12-6 lead, but the Herd continued to chip away and tied the frame at 19-all before taking their first lead, 21-20.

Set Two: The Chants led wire-to-wire in set two, scoring 12 of the first 15 points to tie the match with a 25-13 victory. CCU opened the set on a 6-0 run, getting three points from Rita during the spurt. Coastal closed the set on a 5-0 run with
Bailee Earnhardt serving the final four points.

Set Three:
Anzley Rinard's block solo capped a 7-0 to end the set as Coastal rallied from a 17-12 deficit to claim a 25-20 win. Following a Herd service error,
Ava Wallis served the final six points, getting kills from Rinard, Rita, and Stout, a block assist by Rita and Stout, along with a service ace.

Set Four: Van Elslande had three service aces as part of a 6-0 run to close the match and give the Chants a 25-17 final set triumph. Coastal trailed 5-1 early but took a two-point lead, 11-9, on three consecutive service aces from Fowler. Four ties and two lead changes followed before Stout's attack put the CCU ahead to stay, 15-14.
NOTES & STATS
• Coastal won each of its first two Sun Belt matches for the ninth time in 10 years as a league member. The Chants swept their opening weekend opponent for the fourth straight season under the current scheduling format.
• Coastal Carolina won its eighth straight match against Marshall and improved to 8-1 all-time against the Herd.
• The Chants improved to 7-0 when collecting double-digit blocks this season.
• Stout recorded her third consecutive triple-double and eighth of the season. It was the 41st of her career. Stout also posted her third 20-assist game of the season, collecting 22 helpers.
• Fowler and Van Elslande each had a season-high three service aces. As a team, the Chants served a season-best 10 aces.
• Wallis recorded her eighth 20-assist match of the season, distributing 27 assists, two off her career-high. She also collected 11 digs for her eighth double-double.

Coastal Carolina returns home Friday, Oct. 3, for its first of back-to-back matches against Sun Belt Conference foe Old Dominion. Friday's match is slated for 6 p.m. at the HTC Center, and Saturday's match is scheduled for 2 p.m. ESPN+ will stream both matches, which will also be available on the ESPN app.
