CONWAY — D'Yanis Jimenez made a layup with seconds remaining to push Coastal Carolina women's basketball (9-10, 2-5) over South Alabama (9-8, 2-5) 63-59 on Saturday at the HTC Center. With a made free throw at the end of the game, Kristin Williams scored her 1,000th career point in the victory. 

GAME RECAP
Both teams got off to slow shooting starts as the Chants led 15-10 after the first quarter. Defense was dominant in the second quarter, with Coastal taking a 24-21 lead into halftime. Both teams scored more points in the third quarter than they did in the first half, with South Alabama outscoring Coastal 29-24. The Jaguars made a jumper with 22 seconds left in the period to take a 50-48 lead heading into the final quarter. With the game tied at 59 with five seconds remaining, Jimenez drove to the basket and made the game-winning layup. South Alabama head coach Yolisha Jackson was issued a technical foul shortly after, sending Williams to the free throw line. With a make on her first attempt, Williams secured her 1,000th career point as Coastal closed out the 63-59 victory. 

COASTAL LEADERS
Tessa Grady led four Chants in double-figures scoring with 15. Tracey Hueston collected her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Paige Bradley (12) and Jimenez (10) also posted double-digit scoring performances. As a team, Coastal shot 34-percent from the field and 30-percent from long-range while making 18 of 27 free throw attempts.
