COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team opened the 2026 season with a 4-0 loss to South Carolina on Sunday afternoon in Columbia, S.C.

• With the setback, the Chanticleers begin the season at 0-1.
• Coastal earned its lone victory of the match in doubles play as Brooke Rogers and Aida Mitrache defeated Jane Dunyon and Jana Stojanova, 6-3, on court No. 3.
• On court No. 2, freshman Francesca Simpson and sophomore Sarah Clark battled the No. 44-ranked South Carolina pairing of Lauren Friedman and Helena Buchwald but came up just short in a tightly contested 6-4 decision.
• South Carolina's top of the singles lineup secured three straight-set victories to clinch the match, 4-0.
• The Chanticleers return to action on Feb. 1 when they host Wofford for their home opener. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET.
