HATTIESBURG, MISS. — After suffering a loss to Louisiana on Wednesday, Coastal Carolina women's basketball dominated in an 81-55 win over Southern Miss on Saturday in Hattiesburg, Miss. Coastal Carolina (10-11, 3-6) grabbed their third Sun Belt win of the season.
GAME RECAP
Coastal came out strong, making eight of their 14 shots in the first quarter and outscored Southern Miss 20-10. The Chants continued to stretch their lead in the second quarter, taking a 38-22 advantage into halftime. The Golden Eagles brought the game within 12 in the third before the Chants closed out the period on a 19-4 run, paving the way to an 81-55 victory.
COASTAL LEADERS
Tracey Hueston posted a season-high 24 points with 20 being scored in the second half. Hueston also added three blocks and six rebounds in the winning effort.
Kristin Williams added 18 points while
Kinsea Grimes collected 15. As a team, Coastal shot 48-percent from the field and 23-percent from long-range while making 20 of 24 free throw attempts.
