CONWAY — For the second game in a row, the Chanticleers won convincingly as they took down Texas State 85-53 on Wednesday night in the HTC Center. Coastal Carolina (11-11, 4-6) has won back-to-back Sun Belt games for the first time this season.
GAME RECAP
It was a dominant first quarter as the Chants outscored the Bobcats 21-6 while making eight of their first 15 shots. The Bobcats inched closer in the second, bringing the deficit to 11 as Coastal enter halftime with a 29-18 advantage. The Chants exploded for 33 points in the third quarter, led by
Tracey Hueston and
Kristin Williams who each scored nine points along with
Tessa Grady's eight in the period. Coastal closed it out with another dominant quarter to secure the 85-53 victory.
COASTAL LEADERS
Grady made all eight of her shots including a trio of three-pointers to lead the team with 21 points. Three other starters finished in double figures, including Williams (18),
Kinsea Grimes (16), and Hueston (11). As a team, Coastal shot 46-percent from the field and 46-percent from long-range while making 24 of 28 free throw attempts.
