NEW ORLEANS — Coastal Carolina women's soccer student-athlete Aris Lamanna was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
The weekly honor marks Lamanna's second of the season and the third time a Chanticleer has earned weekly recognition this season. Lamanna previously received the honor on Sept. 15, while Olivia Lawrence was recognized on Aug. 25.
Lamanna had an excellent week in goal for the Chants, not allowing a goal in either of her two appearances. The junior recorded her sixth clean sheet of the season in Coastal's 1-0 victory over Appalachian State, making four saves across 90 minutes of action.
Lamanna also delivered a strong performance against Southern Miss, keeping the Golden Eagles scoreless across 85 minutes before being substituted with Coastal holding a 4-0 lead.
Lamanna's six shutouts this season rank her tied for 28th nationally and tied for first in the Sun Belt.
Coastal will return to action on Oct. 15, facing Georgia State at 6 p.m. ET at the CCU Soccer Complex.
