CONWAY, S.C. --- Coastal Carolina baseball improved to 4-1 on the season in dramatic fashion Friday night, defeating VCU,13-2, on a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the eighth at Springs Brooks Stadium.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the eighth inning,
Ty Barrango delivered the signature moment of the night, blasting a walk-off grand slam to cap an explosive frame and secure the run-rule victory.
Coastal controlled the game throughout, building steady offensive momentum before the decisive eighth inning. The Chanticleers' lineup produced timely hits across multiple innings, keeping pressure on VCU and setting the stage for Barrango's late heroics.
Rex Watson was a consistent shining point on the night for Coastal, posting a 3-for-4 performance with two runs scored and two RBI.
Blagen Pado also posted two RBI and three runs scored.
On the mound, freshman pitcher Case Bosch (1-0) earned the win, leading a Coastal pitching effort that limited VCU to just two runs and kept the Rams from mounting any sustained rally.
