CONWAY, S.C. — Coastal Carolina looks to continue its late-season surge Wednesday night when it hosts Arkansas State Red Wolves men's basketball at the HTC Center in a Sun Belt Conference match-up, highlighted by a Whiteout theme for the home crowd.
Fans are encouraged to wear white as the Chanticleers aim to secure their eighth Sun Belt victory, which would be their most in a season since 2021-22. Coastal enters the contest having won six of its last seven games after earning an 83-79 road victory at ULM on Sunday.
Wednesday's match-up also presents an opportunity for the Chanticleers to snap a four-game losing streak against Arkansas State and claim their first home win over the Red Wolves since 2018. Coastal has dropped three straight home meetings in the series, while Arkansas State holds an 8-6 all-time advantage.
Coastal begins the night tied with Marshall for fourth place in the Sun Belt standings, and is in position for a bye deep into the conference tournament. Arkansas State enters having lost three straight games and currently sits 10th in the league standings.
Coastal's success has been driven by
Joshua Beadle,
Rasheed Jones, and
AJ Dancler, who rank first, second, and third on the team in scoring at more than 15 points per game apiece while also leading the Chanticleers in minutes played, field goals made, free throws made, and assists.
Each ranks among the top 15 scorers in the Sun Belt Conference—Beadle seventh, Dancler 14th, and Jones 15th—and the trio leads the league in combined scoring at 46.4 points per game, with Coastal posting an 8-4 record when all three score in double figures.
The Red Wolves rank second in the conference in scoring at 81.5 points per game and lead the league in rebounding margin and offensive rebounds per contest.
Arkansas State is led by a balanced scoring attack that features four players averaging double figures, including Matt Hayman (12.0 ppg), Christian Harmon (11.7), Jaxon Ellingsworth (10.2), and Chandler Jackson (10.0). Jalen Hampton anchors the Red Wolves on the glass, ranking second in the Sun Belt at 8.1 rebounds per game while totaling 171 rebounds and six double-doubles this season.
