JONESBORO, ARK. — Coastal Carolina women's basketball fell to the top team in the Sun Belt, Arkansas State, 78-70 on Wednesday night in Jonesboro, Ark. Coastal Carolina (11-13, 4-8) fell to 4-8 in Sun Belt play with the loss.
GAME RECAP
Coastal scored the first seven points of the game before Arkansas State took the lead with eight straight points and ended the first quarter with a 19-14 advantage. The Red Wolves led by as many as 10 in the second quarter before the Chants pulled within five to enter halftime down 40-35. Once again, Arkansas State lengthened their lead to nine in the third quarter but a three-pointer by
Olivia Klanac as time expired pulled the deficit to one as the Red Wolves led 57-56 entering the fourth. Klanac knocked down two free throws to tie the game at 65 with 3:27 remaining before Arkansas State outscored Coastal 13-5 the rest of the way to secure the 78-70 victory.
COASTAL LEADERS
Tessa Grady had another stellar shooting night, collecting 24 points while going 9-14 from the field and 5-10 from long range.
Olivia Klanac posted a career-high 14 points in the effort. As a team, Coastal shot 42-percent from the field and 36-percent from long-range while making 14 of 20 free throw attempts.

Coastal will face Bowling Green on the road in the second round of the MAC-SBC Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 7. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
