CONWAY, S.C. — Coastal Carolina opened the 2026 season Friday with a 19-10 win over Longwood at Brooks Stadium, using a balanced offense and a strong second half to pull away from the Lancers.
The Chanticleers (1-0) led 7-4 at halftime before outscoring Longwood 12-6 over the final two quarters to secure the season-opening victory.
Alexandra Horn and Nikki Seven led Coastal with four goals and two assists apiece, combining for 12 points.
Alyson Mascolo added two goals and an assist, while
Sophie Kingsborough and
Megan Hummel each scored twice.
Freshman Laken Wright scored a goal in her Chanticleer debut, and senior
Avery Przymylski netted her first goal since her freshman campaign.
Coastal jumped out early with four goals in the opening six minutes and never trailed. The Chanticleers maintained control through the third quarter, scoring six times to extend the lead to 13-7 entering the final period.
Defensively, Coastal forced 16 caused turnovers, won 19 draw controls, and held a 41-23 advantage in shots.
Evelyn Kitchin recorded 14 draw controls to pace the midfield.
In goal,
Charlotte Sadler earned the win with four saves in 45 minutes, while
Kylie Pastor added two saves in relief.
Madison Rogers paced Longwood (0-1) with four goals, and Jordan Fitzgerald scored two.
Coastal Carolina continues its season-opening homestand on Sunday, Feb. 8, at noon, hosting Presbyterian at Brooks Stadium.
