Women's Lacrosse Tops Presbyterian

CONWAY, S.C.Alexandra Horn recorded seven points on four goals and three assists as Coastal Carolina used a decisive third quarter to pull away for a 15-8 victory over Presbyterian on Sunday afternoon at Brooks Stadium.

Nikki Seven added three goals and two assists, while Charlotte Erb finished with three goals and an assist as the Chanticleers improved to 2-0 on the season. Sophie Kingsborough scored twice, and Evelyn Kitchin and Teagan Van Stone each added a goal for Coastal.

Coastal Carolina set the tone early, scoring four unanswered goals late in the first quarter. Kingsborough opened the scoring at the 4:45 mark before Seven and Horn converted on back-to-back man-up opportunities as the Chanticleers capitalized on early Presbyterian penalties.

Presbyterian responded in the second quarter, scoring four times to close within 6-4, but Coastal answered with a late goal by Erb with 1:40 remaining to carry a 7-4 lead into halftime.

The Chanticleers seized full control coming out of the break, scoring five goals in the third quarter to extend the margin to 12-5. Horn tallied two goals in the period, while Erb scored twice and Gabrielle Beaudet added a goal as Coastal consistently won draws and dictated possession.

Coastal finished a perfect 6-for-6 on free-position attempts, with Horn accounting for three of the man-up goals. The Chanticleers also held a 19-6 advantage in draw controls, led by Megan Hummel and Kitchin with nine apiece.

Charlotte Sadler earned the win in goal for Coastal Carolina, making seven saves. Kayleigh Aitken recorded eight saves for Presbyterian (0-1). Kate Dominick paced the Blue Hose with two goals and three assists, while Emily Currie and Alyssa Perez added two goals each.

The Chanticleers return to action Saturday, Feb. 14, at East Carolina. The opening face-off is set for noon at Bill Clark Homes Field at Johnson Stadium in Greenville, N.C. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
