CONWAY, S.C. — The Coastal Carolina softball team defeated the Bowling Green Falcons 11-6 on Wednesday afternoon at St. John Stadium.
CCU started strong, taking a 2-0 lead on a
Georgia Hood RBI double and a
Brie Normandin groundout that drove in
Delaney Keith.
The Chants tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the third inning when
Kaelin Cash and
McKennah Metzger each smashed two-run home runs to extend the lead to 6-0.
Coastal added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a Keith RBI single and a Hood two-run homer to push the score to 9-0.
Bowling Green mounted a comeback in the top of the fifth frame, scoring five runs on a single, three walks, and a hit by pitch to narrow the gap to 9-5.
The Chants responded in the bottom of the sixth inning when Normandin belted Coastal's fourth home run of the game to extend the lead to 11-5.
The Falcons added one run in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI double to make the score 11-6, but it was not enough to stop the Chants.
Reagan Troy improved to 2-0 in the circle, not allowing a run over 2.2 innings of work.
