CONWAY, S.C. – No. 16 Coastal Carolina fell to East Carolina 10-4 in a weather-shortened series finale on Sunday afternoon at Springs Brooks Stadium.
Due to inclement weather, the game entered a delay in the seventh inning and did not resume. As a result, the contest was declared official after six complete innings.
Despite the setback, the Chanticleers claimed the weekend series after earning victories on Friday and Saturday.
Rex Watson continued his hot stretch at the plate, launching his third home run in as many days. Watson's blast came after his walk-off grand slam on Friday night and a go-ahead three-run homer in Saturday's victory.
Brice Estep also stayed hot offensively for the Chanticleers, hitting a home run for the second straight game.
East Carolina jumped out to an early 2-0 lead through two innings before adding six more runs in the third inning to extend its advantage. Scott Doran was charged with the loss for the Chanticleers.
With the result, Coastal Carolina moves to 9-6 on the season.
The Chanticleers will return to action on Tuesday night when they host No. 15 Wake Forest at Springs Brooks Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
