CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina dropped a 10-4 decision to Liberty in Atlantic Sun Conference action on Thursday afternoon at Brooks Stadium.
The Chanticleers (9-8, 2-5) responded after falling behind 2-0 in the opening quarter, using a three-goal run in the second period to take their only lead of the game.
Alexandra Horn got Coastal on the board at the 7:06 mark, followed by goals from
Alyson Mascolo and Charlotte Erb to give the Chants a 3-2 advantage.
Liberty (7-9, 5-2) answered with a late second-quarter goal to even the score at 3-3 before taking control in the third. The Flames outscored Coastal 5-1 in the period, scoring five of the game's next six goals to build a multi-goal cushion they would not relinquish.
Gabrielle Beaudet accounted for Coastal's lone goal in the third quarter, while Horn and Mascolo each finished with one goal. Horn also added an assist to lead the Chants with two points.
Charlotte Sadler recorded nine saves in goal for Coastal, facing 30 shots on the afternoon.
Liberty was led by Katie Colavito and Sophia Nesci with two goals apiece, while Ava Rajala totaled three points on a goal and two assists.
The Chanticleers totaled 21 shots, including 11 on goal, while Liberty recorded 30 shots in the contest.
Coastal will close out the regular season on Wednesday, April 22, at noon against Kennesaw State inside Brooks Stadium.
