CONWAY, S.C. — The Coastal Carolina softball team cruised to a 10-1 run-rule victory over the College of Charleston Cougars on Wednesday evening at St. John Stadium.
The Chants wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning when
Brie Normandin and
Kaelin Cash hit back-to-back RBI doubles to give Coastal a 2-0 lead.
CCU tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the second frame scoring on a bases loaded walk and a two-run single from Normandin to push the Chants ahead 5-0.
The Cougars got one run back in the top of the fourth inning when Sam Horn hit an RBI single to right field to make the score 5-1.
In the bottom of the fourth
Libby Pippin and
McKennah Metzger hit consecutive RBI singles to extend Coastal's lead to 7-1.
Georgia Hood secured the 10-1 walk-off run-rule win in the bottom of the fifth inning when she launched a three-run home run over the center field wall.
McKennah Metzger improved to 4-1 in the circle allowing just one run on three hits while striking out four across 4.0 innings.
