Norman, Horn Selected on Day 2 of MLB Draft
CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina pitchers Ross Norman and Darin Horn were selected on Day 2 of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft, joining first-round pick Cameron Flukey to give the Chanticleers three selections in this year's draft.
Norman was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 11th round with the No. 320 overall pick, while Horn was chosen by the Chicago White Sox in the 16th round with the No. 465 overall selection.
Flukey became the highest Major League Baseball Draft pick in program history after being selected No. 22 overall by the Detroit Tigers in the first round on Saturday. With three selections in this year's draft, Coastal Carolina has now had at least one player selected in the MLB Draft in 30 consecutive years, dating back to 1997.
RHP Ross Norman — Round 11 • No. 320 • Baltimore Orioles
After transferring to Coastal Carolina prior to the 2026 season, Norman immediately stepped into the Chanticleers' weekend rotation. The junior made 16 starts on the mound, while ranking second on the team in both wins (six) and innings pitched (78.0). He struck out 65 batters and turned in one of the top pitching performances of the season on March 21, tossing a three-hit complete-game shutout against James Madison while striking out six and issuing no walks.
Before arriving in Conway, Norman spent two seasons at Georgia State, where he appeared in 32 games with 17 starts, striking out 98 batters over 102.0 innings pitched.
RHP Darin Horn — Round 16 • No. 465 • Chicago White Sox
Horn capped his Coastal Carolina career by earning consensus All-America honors following one of the nation's top relief seasons in 2026. The right-hander was named a Third Team All-American by Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), while also earning Second Team All-America recognition from Perfect Game. He also garnered First Team All-Sun Belt Conference honors.
The Bluffton, S.C., native finished the 2026 season with an 8-2 record, seven saves and a 3.21 ERA across 31 appearances out of the bullpen. He struck out 93 batters in 67.1 innings pitched while holding opponents to a .241 batting average. Horn ranked tied for second in the Sun Belt Conference in saves and became one of only two Division I pitchers during the 2026 season to record at least eight wins and seven saves.
Over five seasons at Coastal Carolina, Horn appeared in 88 career games, posting a 16-6 record with seven saves while striking out 213 batters in 166.2 innings pitched. During his career, he helped the Chanticleers reach three NCAA Tournaments, including a trip to the 2025 Men's College World Series.
