Lena Spainhour Named Assistant Women's Golf Coach

CONWAY - Coastal Carolina University head women's golf coach Katie Quinney has added Lena Spainhour to the coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Spainhour (formerly Schaeffner) returns to Coastal Carolina as assistant coach after one of the most decorated playing careers in program history. A member of the Coastal Carolina Athletics George F. "Buddy" Sasser Hall of Fame Class of 2022, Spainhour brings a championship pedigree and deep connection to the Chanticleer women's golf program.
A four-year letterwinner for the Chanticleers from 2012-16, Spainhour earned All-Big South honors three times and was named the 2015 Big South Women's Golfer of the Year and the 2016 Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She helped lead Coastal to multiple conference championships and NCAA postseason appearances while establishing herself as one of the premier golfers in program history.
During her standout junior season in 2014-15, Spainhour set the Coastal Carolina single-season scoring average record (72.94), won three individual tournament titles, captured the Big South Championship individual title, and became the first Chanticleer women's golfer to qualify as an individual for the NCAA Division I National Championship after a runner-up finish at the NCAA Raleigh Regional. She concluded her career ranked second in program history with a 74.50 career scoring average.
A native of Rettigheim, Germany, Spainhour returns to Conway with firsthand knowledge of Coastal Carolina's championship culture and student-athlete experience as she begins the next chapter of her Chanticleer career, helping mentor the next generation of Coastal women's golfers.
