Men's Golf Adds Incoming Transfer Waymon Thomas

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina has signed Winthrop transfer Waymon Thomas for the 2026-27 season, Chanticleer head coach Jacob Wilner announced Thursday. The Mount Pleasant, S.C., native has two years of eligibility remaining.
We're thrilled to add Waymon to our roster and have him finish his collegiate career as a Chanticleer, Wilner said. He's an outstanding player with a competitive edge, and we're excited to see what he'll bring to our program.
Thomas spent the 2025-26 season at Winthrop after playing his first two collegiate seasons at College of Charleston. He posted a 73.83 scoring average while competing in six tournaments for the Eagles after appearing in 14 tournaments over two seasons with the Cougars.
Thomas helped College of Charleston earn an at-large bid to the 2025 NCAA Championships.
A standout prep golfer at Oceanside Collegiate Academy, Thomas earned medalist honors at the 2023 South Carolina High School League Class AA Championships with a 143, one year after finishing as the individual runner-up at the SCHSL Class AAA Championships.
Thomas is one of three newcomers on the Chanticleers' roster for the 2026-27 season, joining Payton Schmitt and Luke Splane. Coastal also returns Lucas Arnstsen, Coleman Ferguson, Harrison James, Jack Lee, Santiago Schele and Drew Sykes.
