2026 Women’s Tennis Recap

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina women's tennis concluded the 2026 season with a 13-6 overall record and a 2-2 mark in Sun Belt Conference play.
The Chanticleers turned in a number of dominant performances throughout the season, recording six shutout victories over Queens, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Presbyterian, Gardner-Webb, and the College of Charleston. Coastal also defended its home courts at the Stevens Tennis Complex, posting a strong 7-2 record.
One of the season's milestone moments came on Feb. 14 when head coach Catherine Hewitt earned the 200th victory of her career with Coastal's 7-0 win over Queens.
In Sun Belt Conference play, the Chants earned victories over Georgia Southern and Marshall. Coastal also proved its ability to perform under pressure, claiming three hard-fought 4-3 wins against Campbell, UNCW, and Marshall.
Coastal entered the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Championship as the No. 8 seed before its season came to a close in the opening round against James Madison.
Individually, Aida Mitrache and Diana Zuba led the way in singles competition, each recording a team-best 13 victories. Mitrache finished 13-3, while Zuba posted a 13-4 mark. Brunelle Kouam added a 10-4 record, and Sarah Clark went 10-5, giving the Chants four players with double-digit singles wins.
In doubles play, the tandem of Mitrache and Brooke Rogers paced Coastal with a team-best 12-5 record, including a 10-3 mark on court two. Zuba and Clark also enjoyed a standout season, finishing 8-1 overall while closing the year on a four-match winning streak.
As a team, Coastal compiled a 60-30 singles record (.667 winning percentage) and a 33-19 doubles record (.635 winning percentage).
The Chants also garnered several conference honors. Zuba was named the Sun Belt Conference Newcomer of the Year and joined Kouam on the All-Sun Belt Singles Second Team. Zuba and Clark were each selected as the Sun Belt Conference Doubles Team of the Week on April 8.
Success extended beyond the court as all eight Chanticleers earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, while the program was recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team.
