CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team defeated the Central Michigan Chippewas, 2-0, at the CCU Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the Chants improve to 2-1-0.
Coastal took the lead in the 14th minute on a give-and-go play between Olivia Goretski and Reegan Wagg, allowing Goretski to slot the ball into the bottom-left corner and put Coastal up 1-0.
The Chants doubled their lead in the 30th minute when Camryn McKee lobbed a long ball over the backline to the feet of freshman Olivia Lawrence, who ripped the ball into the top-right corner to make the score 2-0.
At halftime, Coastal led 13-2 in shots and 5-2 in corner kicks.
The Chants forced three saves in the second half but could not add to their lead.
Aris Lamanna recorded her second shutout of the season.
At the final whistle, Coastal held a 21-6 advantage in shots. The last time CCU took 21 shots in a match was in August 2022 against Jacksonville.
Coastal took 11 shots on goal in the match, marking the most in a match since a 3-0 shutout over Stetson in September 2023.
The Chants will return to action on Aug. 27 to face UNCG at 6 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C.
