Matt Reida was hired as Coastal Carolina's assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in June 2026 after spending the previous three seasons at Houston, where he served as the Cougars' associate head coach. Reida brings extensive recruiting experience to Conway, having held recruiting coordinator responsibilities at multiple stops throughout his collegiate coaching career.
During his time in Houston, Reida played a key role in player development, recruiting and offensive strategy. In 2024, he helped coach an offense that produced the second-most home runs in program history and the program's highest slugging percentage since 1984.
Prior to Houston, Reida spent two seasons at Alabama, where he helped the Crimson Tide post 74 wins and advance to the 2023 NCAA Super Regional round.
Reida also served as an assistant coach at Pittsburgh in 2021, helping the Panthers post a .979 fielding percentage that ranked fourth in the ACC and 22nd nationally, and spent the 2020 season at Xavier as the program's recruiting coordinator. Under his guidance, the Musketeers set a school record with 68 home runs, leading the Big East Conference.
Before his stops at Xavier and Pittsburgh, Reida spent two seasons at Indiana, where he worked with the Hoosiers' hitters, infielders and baserunners. Indiana posted a school-record .975 fielding percentage during his first season with the program.
A former standout infielder at Kentucky, Reida started 199 career games at shortstop and appeared in 214 games for the Wildcats from 2011-14. Following his collegiate career, he spent time in the Tampa Bay Rays organization after signing a professional contract in 2014.
