Donald Clement is in his first season as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's golf teams at Coastal Carolina University.
In addition to his coaching duties, he serves as the director of internships for Coastal Carolina's Cooperative Golf Management program.
As the first director, Clement will work with local professionals to aid Coastal Carolina's aspiring golf professionals. The internship program is designed to give the students a hands-on, real-life working experience.
Prior to accepting his current position at Coastal Carolina, Clement served as the head golf pro at Blackmoor Golf Club in Murrells Inlet, S.C., from 1990-95. He also served as the assistant golf pro at Pawley's Plantation from 1988-90 and The Dunes Golf and Beach Club from 1986-88.
A native of Lexington, S.C., Clement is a 1986 graduate of Coastal Carolina with a bachelor's degree in physical education. While attending Coastal, he led the Chanticleer golf program to national prominence. In 1985, Clement placed third individually and helped the team place third nationally in the NAIA National Championship Tournament. The next season, he was named to the first Big South All-Conference team and helped the Chanticleers gain invitations to both the NCAA and NAIA national championships.
In 1983, Clement earned an associate's degree in business administration from Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, S.C.
He and his wife, Debbie, have one daughter, Autumn. They reside in Pawley's Island, S.C.
