  • Competed in nine events on the year, posting two top-20 individual finishes
  • Carded a stroke average of 74.59 over 27 rounds of play
  • Turned in seven rounds of par or better on the season, including a low round 69 in the third and final round of the 2019 Sun Belt Men’s Golf Championship
  • Also posted a round of 70 three times, first at the Gopher Invitational, at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate and again at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate

  • Voted second-team All-Sun Belt
  • Led the team in scoring average (72.69), rounds in the 60's (9) and rounds of par or better (15)
  • His 72.69 season scoring average ranked 11th all-time in CCU single-season men's' golf history
  • His 15 rounds of par or better on the year ranked10th all-time in CCU's single-season history
  • His 112 birdies ranked 11th all-time in Coastal's single-season history
  • Also led the team in a team-best five events, including the 2018 NCAA Kissimmee Regional
  • One of two Chants to play in all 36 team rounds
  • Tied for third and posted a 204, 12-under par (68-67-69) at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate
  • His score of 204 was the fifth-best 54-hole score in CCU history (until Morgan Deneen shot 203 to win 2018 Sun Belt Championship) and still ranks sixth all-time
  • Placed in a tie for eighth at Kiawah, shooting a 222, +6 (78-76-68)
  • Was CCU's top finisher at the General Hackler Championship, carding a 218, +2 (75-73-70) and tying for 28th
  • Tied for 18th with a 214, 2-under par (69-73-72) to lead Coastal at the Gary Koch Invitational
  • Tied for 16th overall during stroke play at the Sun Belt Championship, shooting a 219, 6-under par
  • Rallied to lead CCU at the NCAA Regional as he tied for 14th with a 212, 4-under par (74-70-68)
  • Named to the Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll
  • Represented Mexico at the 2018 Latin America Amateur and finished in a tie for 30th, posting scores of 72-73-72-75 for an 8-over par 292


2016-17 (Sophomore)

  • Named to the All-Sun Belt second team, as voted on by the league's head coaches
  • Tied with three others for low medalist at the 2017 Sun Belt Championship and credited with his first collegiate win before falling in a playoff to officially tie for second for league purposes
  • Finished with Coastal's top scoring average (73.64) as he just edged out his older brother Alfredo (73.75) for the honor thanks to a strong finish
  • Was CCU's top scorer in three of the last four events and recorded all three of his top 20 finishes for the year over the span, placing 19th at the General Hackler Championship, 14th at the East Carolina Intercollegiate, and second-place at the Sun Belt Championship
  • Also, over his last four events, Ruiz averaged 72.64 strokes per round and posted four rounds of par or better
  • Improved his scoring average by nearly two full strokes over his freshman year as he recorded eight of his career 10 rounds of par or better this season
  • Earned Dean's List recognition for the spring 2017 semester
  • Named to the Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll


2015-16 (Freshman)

  • Saw action in nine of CCU's 10 events and posted a 75.54 scoring average on the season
  • Named the Big South Freshman Golfer of the Week (Nov. 6) as he shot a 148, +4 (72-72) at the Kiawah Classic
  • Finished in a tie for 40th at the Kiawah Classic event
  • Led the team with a 223, +7 (74-75-74) to place 27th at the John Hayt Invitational
  • Carded a career-low 71 in the second round of the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational en route to a season-low 222, +6
  • Earned Dean's List recognition for the fall 2015 semester
  • Named to the 2015-16 Big South Presidential Honor Roll for posting at least a 3.0 for the academic year


Prior to Coastal Carolina

  • Was the 2013 Mexican Junior National Champion and a member of Mexico's Junior National Team in 2013
  • Additionally a member of the championship team for the Mexican National Team Championships in 2011-12, 2012-13, and 2013-14
  • A product of the Greg Norman Champions Golf Academy in North Myrtle Beach
  • Posted a six-stroke win December 2014 on a regional junior tour in his native Mexico, shooting 70-74=144
  • Placed fourth (70-69-70=2-09) in the Greg Norman Junior Championship August 2014 and at the Optimist International Junior Championship July 2014
  • Named "Best Player" on the Asociación de Golf Del Valle de México (AGVM) for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons
  • In 2013, tied for third at the BMW Junior Open in Beijing, China, and tied for fifth at the Hilton Head Junior Shootout as part of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
