Biography
Lori Whitaker enters her third season on the Coastal Carolina staff this fall.
She serves as the program[apos]s guard position coach. Additionally, her responsibilities include assisting with recruiting as well as acting as the team[apos]s scouting coordinator.
During her first season as an assistant on LeForce[apos]s staff the Chanticleers finished with a 10-19 record. Under Whitaker[apos]s tutelage Sydnei Moss earned All-Big South honors and Katie White was named the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Additionally, Moss earned player of the week honors.
In 2011-12 under the guidance of Whitaker, senior guard Olivia Irick connected on 44 3-pointers to permanently position herself as one of the most lethal sharpshooters in the history of Coastal basketball. Irick would finish her career ranked seventh on the CCU all-time made 3-pointers list with 117. Also in 2011-12 freshman point guard Shatia Cole turned in one of the most memorable rookie campaigns in school history. Cole tied the Coastal all-time mark with four Big South Freshman of the Week honors on her way to becoming the program[apos]s eighth Big South All-Freshman Team selection.
As a former guard for the Chanticleers, Whitaker saw action in a total of 34 games and totaled 113 points, a .424 field goal percentage, and 34 rebounds.
A native of Bloomington, Ind., Whitaker holds a B.A. in sports management.
