Coastal Carolina University Athletics

Pete Cuadrado was named the sixth head coach of the Coastal Carolina women’s soccer program in April 2026, bringing more than two decades of Division I coaching experience and a proven track record of building successful programs. A two-time conference coach of the year and NCAA Tournament head coach, Cuadrado has compiled a 194-167-57 career record while leading multiple programs to conference championships and postseason success.

Prior to Coastal Carolina, Cuadrado served as the founding head coach at Tarleton State, where he launched the women’s soccer program in 2022. In just four seasons, he guided the Texans to 26 wins and 15 ties, the most by any new Division I program during that span. His teams steadily improved, highlighted by a 9-8-3 record and a WAC Tournament appearance in 2024, followed by a 7-7-6 mark in 2025. Tarleton also posted a program-best 6-2-2 nonconference record in 2025, while multiple student-athletes earned All-WAC honors including Kaitlyn Flanagan being named Second Team All-WAC for the second year in a row, and Zoe Ballard and Tori Lucksinger each earning a spot on the All-WAC Freshman Team.

In 2024, Cuadrado led the Texans to a record-setting season, establishing new program marks in wins (9), conference victories (3), goals (29), shutouts (8), and goals-against average (0.95). The team also made its first conference tournament appearance, with four players earning All-WAC recognition and Mikayla Kendall earning All-Pacific Region honors.

During Tarleton State’s inaugural 2022 season, Cuadrado guided the Texans to a 6-9-3 record, including a 4-1-1 start and the program’s first win and first home victory. He also coached Mila Bettinelli to the program’s first postseason honor with a Freshman All-WAC selection.

Before Tarleton State, Cuadrado spent nine seasons as head coach at Wyoming (2012-20), where he became the program’s all-time wins leader with 75 victories. He led the Cowgirls to their first Mountain West Conference championship in 2018 and recorded four 10-win seasons, including three consecutive from 2014–16. He was named Mountain West Coach of the Year in 2014.

Cuadrado also spent nine seasons at North Dakota State (2003–12), where he guided the Bison through their transition to Division I while becoming the program’s all-time wins leader. He led NDSU to two regular-season conference championships and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010, where the Bison played No. 6 Texas A&M to a 1-1 draw. He was named NCAA Division I Independent Coach of the Year in 2005 and recorded seven double-digit win seasons, including a 15-3-2 campaign in 2011.

Across his career, Cuadrado has won three regular-season conference championships and earned two coach of the year honors. He has coached 52 all-conference selections, 15 all-region honorees, and over 100 conference all-academic recipients, while his teams have earned numerous academic awards.

He has also been active in the Olympic Development Program and holds a USSF National “B” Coaching License, along with national goalkeeping and youth licenses.

Cuadrado began his coaching career as an assistant at Valparaiso, where he earned his master’s degree in athletic administration, before spending two seasons at Illinois State.

As a player, he competed at Northeastern Illinois for two seasons before transferring to TCU where the Horned Frogs were ranked as high as No. 8 regionally. While at TCU he earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing. He is married to Dr. Babette Cuadrado, who earned her doctorate in adult and higher education from the University of South Dakota. The couple has one daughter, Kami.
