Aaron King joined the Coastal Carolina volleyball staff in January 2025 as an assistant coach.

King joins Teal Nation after two seasons as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Mississippi State. While with the Bulldogs in 2024, he helped coach Arissa Smith to AVCA All-South Region status, picked up wins over rival Texas A&M where the team hit .361 and knocked off nationally-ranked Missouri.


In the 2023 season, the Bulldogs finished with a 13-15 record, including a 6-12 SEC record that featured a Top 15 victory against No. 14 Florida (Oct. 13). It was the second time in program history and the first time at home the Bulldogs earned win over the Gators. State also collected wins against Western Michigan (Sept. 8) and SEC foe Auburn (Nov. 15), who received bids to the NCAA Tournament. 

King assisted in the development of three student-athletes who received SEC weekly honors in 2023. Libero Lauren Myrick tabbed her first SEC weekly honor by being named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, while middle blocker Zoe Gonzales collected her first SEC Defensive Player of the Week. Right side Amina Shackelford earned SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the first of her career. Off the court, middle blocker Rebecca Walk was named to the SEC Community Service Team for the third consecutive year and College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for the second consecutive year.

King concluded his sixth season as an assistant coach at Stetson University. During his six seasons, the Hatters won 65 overall matches and 38 conference wins. The Hatters won a single-season record eight matches in row in 2019 and posted their first winning season in ASUN play since 2002.

During King’s six seasons, he assisted in developing a ASUN Freshman of the Year, three members of the All-Freshman Team, three Second Team All-Conference selections, seven ASUN Players of the Week, seven ASUN Defensive Players of the Week and seven ASUN Freshmen of the Week.

King served as a volunteer assistant at Western Kentucky in 2016. Where he helped guide the Lady Toppers to a 30-3 record, a Conference USA regular season and tournament championship, and trip to the NCAA tournament. He assisted the program in several areas including training skills, opponent scouting and film work. He helped coach two AVCA All-Americans and three PrepVolleyball.com All-Americans.

King graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2017. While there, he studied Architectural Science and earned a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies. He also served as a practice player for the Lady Toppers from 2013-16 and worked as a court coach for two years at WKU volleyball camps.

King also served on the coaching staff of the Bravo Volleyball Club in Bowling Green, Ky. He was the head coach of the 14’s in 2016. There he oversaw all aspects of the team and served as the offensive floater coach in 2017, working with multiple teams and age groups on offensive skills.

A 2011 graduate of Louisville’s Trinity High School, King was a four-year member of the volleyball team, serving as a middle hitter and team captain during his senior year. He also played for the Fury Club team for four years.
