Coastal Carolina University Athletics

Doneva Bays is in her fifth season as an assistant volleyball coach at Coastal Carolina University. Bays assists Head Coach Kristen Bauer in all aspects of coaching and recruiting, as well as overseeing the Lady Chanticleers[apos] academic progress.

Bays came to Coastal Carolina after spending the 1999-2000 academic year as the assistant volleyball coach at Georgetown College in Kentucky. While at Georgetown, Bays helped lead the Tigers to an Elite-8 finish and the highest NAIA National Ranking in the school[apos]s history, ranking fourth.

Bays, a native of Gate City, Virginia, is a 1997 graduate of Milligan College. While a member of the Buffaloes[apos] volleyball squad, Bays earned NAIA Division II All-American honors in 1996-97 when she led the program to a No. 15 ranking in the final NAIA Coaches[apos] Poll. She was also the Tennessee Valley Athletic Conference and Mid-South Region Player of the Year as a senior. Bays[apos] four-year Milligan career featured four All-Conference team selections and three All-Region honors. She was also an All-Conference performer and a 1,000-point scorer in basketball for Milligan.

Bays has completed her coursework at East Tennessee State University in pursuit of her Masters degree in Sports Management. She resides in Myrtle Beach.
