Scott, Matt - 2025 Volleyball Staff

Matt Scott

Matt Scott enters his second season with the Coastal Carolina volleyball program in 2026 as the Chanticleers' associate head coach and recruiting coordinator.

In his first season in Conway, Scott helped guide Coastal Carolina to an 18-11 overall record and a second-place finish in the Sun Belt Conference East Division. The Chanticleers produced three All-Sun Belt Conference selections, led by First Team honoree Jalyn Stout and Second Team selections Anna Rita and Emily Fowler. Stout also earned AVCA All-Southeast Region honors for the third consecutive season.

Scott joined the Coastal Carolina staff in early 2025 after spending three seasons as associate head coach at Alabama.

During his tenure with the Crimson Tide, Scott helped recruit 27 student-athletes and played a key role in the program's continued growth. Alabama recorded its first top-25 victory since 2016, earned its first win over in-state rival Auburn since 2019, and hosted the first sellout in Foster Auditorium history with a crowd of 3,800 fans. In 2022, the Crimson Tide ranked among the top three teams in the Southeastern Conference in both aces and digs.

Prior to Alabama, Scott served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Connecticut from 2016-21. The Huskies won 24 matches in 2021, including a victory over No. 19 Creighton, and advanced to the BIG EAST Championship match for the second consecutive season before reaching the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) Final Four. During his tenure, Scott coached six all-conference selections, including BIG EAST Setter of the Year McKayla Wuensch.

Scott spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Samford from 2013-15 and helped the Bulldogs capture the 2014 Southern Conference Tournament championship.

Before joining the coaching ranks full time, Scott served in several roles within the Louisville volleyball program from 2008-12, including practice player, assistant to the executive director of volleyball operations, team manager, and graduate assistant/video coordinator. He also served as assistant to the assistant athletic director for the 2012 NCAA Volleyball Championships when Louisville hosted the national event.

A native of Louisville, Ky., Scott and his wife, Rachel, have two sons, Noah and James.
