Mike Uva was named Coastal Carolina University’s Associate Athletics Director for Communications and Media in September 2025.
Uva joins Coastal after more than a decade in sports media, broadcasting, and strategic communications. Most recently, he served as a Sports Anchor/Reporter at WPRI-TV (CBS) in Providence, R.I., and as the Director of Digital Content at GamecockCentral.com, part of the On3 Sports Network. In both roles, he produced in-depth video, written, and digital content covering both professional and collegiate athletics.
A two-time Emmy Award-winning sportscaster, Uva previously spent five years as a Sports Anchor/Reporter at WACH FOX in Columbia, S.C. During his time there, he was honored five times by the RTDNAC as Sportscaster of the Year and twice by the South Carolina Broadcasters Association. In 2022, while still covering the South Carolina Gamecocks, he freelanced as a Sports Anchor/Reporter for WBZ-TV (CBS) in Boston, Mass., co-hosting the station's New England Patriots pre-game and post-game shows. His work there earned him an Emmy nomination from the New England Chapter.
Before beginning his television career at WXVT-TV (CBS) in Greenville, Miss., Uva was a correspondent for ESPN Boston, covering high school sports.
"We are thrilled to welcome Mike Uva to Teal Nation," said Chance Miller, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and University Recreation. "His extensive background in media, content creation, and digital engagement—along with his proven ability to connect with fans and tell compelling stories—will help elevate the Coastal Carolina brand on a national level."
A native of Massachusetts, Uva is a graduate of Assumption University, where he played four years of collegiate football. He and his fiancée, Brooke, are grateful to be part of Teal Nation.
