Box Score Volleyball defeated by Winthrop, 3-0 ROCK HILL, S.C. — Winthrop University's Erin Lehman recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 19 digs to lead the Eagle volleyball team to a 3-0 Big South Conference victory Tuesday night over visiting Coastal Carolina.
The win was the seventh in a row for coach Joel McCartney’s squad and improves Winthrop to 19-9 overall and 9-2 in conference play. Coastal Carolina drops to 8-16 overall and 4-7 in the Big South.
The 30-19, 30-21 and 30-28 win gives the Eagles a regular season sweep of the Lady Chanticleers. In addition to Lehman’s performance, three other Winthrop players recorded double figure kills. Jennifer Pritchard had 13 while Ashlea Thomas and Sarah Brown collected 12 each for the Eagles.
Coastal Carolina junior Katie Knutson tied Pritchard for match-high honors in kills with 13. Sarah Bennett, who earlier in the day was selected the Big South's Player of the Week, collected 12 kills for the Lady Chants.
