CONWAY, S.C. — The Coastal Carolina volleyball team wasted little time in defeating Birmingham Southern, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Kimbel Arena, winning 30-17, 30-27 and 30-25. The match against the Big South's newest member, who will begin competing in conference play next season, lasted just an hour and 15 minutes.

The Lady Chants (5-11) had their best hitting match of the season, hitting .353 as a team, led by Carly Draudt's career-high .478. Draudt had 13 kills, while Katie Knutson led the squad with 17 to end with a .457 hitting percentage. Sarah Bennett added 11 kills while Sarah Besemer tallied 48 assists.

Miljana Lazarevic (13) and Rachel Malmborg (11) were the only two players to register double-digit kills for the Panthers (5-11).

Coastal begins a five game road trip Wednesday Oct. 10, when they travel to meet conference rival Charleston Southern. The Lady Chants return home Friday Oct. 26 when they host Elon at 7:00 pm.
