Box Score Volleyball Falls Short to Georgia State, 3-1

ATLANTA, GA — Playing with just six players for the second consecutive day was a little more than Coastal Carolina University's volleyball squad could stand as Georgia State University scored a 3-1 victory over the Lady Chanticleers on Saturday at GSU Sports Arena. Georgia State improves to 22-8 overall with the 30-16, 29-31, 30-20, and 30-25 victory. Coastal falls to 9-17.

Georgia State used a strong presence at the net in route to the victory. The Lady Panthers connected for a .353 hitting percentage and posted 11 blocks. Randi Van Dam came off of the bench to lead Georgia State with 20 kills and six blocks. Molly Sapp added 17 kills, while April Decoste posted 60 assists.

As has been the story for much of the season, junior Katie Knutson led Coastal Carolina with 20 kills and three blocks. Carly Draudt added 16 kills, 13 digs and three blocks and Sarah Bennett tallied 11 kills.

Coastal Carolina, which has played three consecutive road matches, will return home on Tuesday, November 6, for the first of a three-game home series against Big South Conference opposition. The Lady Chanticleers will host Charleston Southern at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The homestand continues with a 7:00 p.m. match against Radford and a 2:00 p.m. match against Liberty on Saturday. Coastal's game against Liberty will be the final regular season game of the 2001 season.
