Box Score Volleyball Stomps on CSU, 3-1 CONWAY, SC— Coastal Carolina's volleyball team avenged a loss from earlier this season, defeating Charleston Southern in decisive fashion Tuesday night, 3-1. With the victory the Lady Chanticleers improve to 5-7 in the conference (10-17 overall), moving percentage points ahead of UNC Asheville for fifth place in the Big South Conference as the regular season winds down.
The Lady Buccaneers (10-14, 6-6) exploded out of the blocks, jumping out to a 10-1 in the first game, before Coastal settled in and battled back to take its first lead of the match at 17-16. The Lady Chants went on to win 30-25, and kept the momentum rolling as they cruised 30-21 in game two. CSU staged a late comeback of its own to take game three 31-29, but Coastal ended it in four, 30-23.
Katie Knutson led Coastal with 21 kills and a .319 hitting percentage, while Sarah Bennett added 20 kills and Carly Draudt 14. Tricia Wilson recorded 18 kills with only one error for a .395 percentage for the Lady Bucs, while Jennifer Monson added 17 kills.
The Lady Chants wrap up the regular season this weekend, hosting Radford Friday, November 9 at 7:00 pm, and Liberty Saturday, November 10 at 2:00 pm, while CSU plays the same teams, with the days reversed.
