CHARLESTON, S.C. — The College of Charleston volleyball team used 19 kills by Aly VanCleave and 11 from Sara Davis to sweep Coastal Carolina 3-0 tonight at the John Kresse Arena.

The Cougars (7-1) took the first game 30-23 and the second 30-22. The third game saw the Cougars hold the Chanticleer to just 16 points in their 30-16 victory to seal the victory. Davis led the game in kill percentage with a .556 as she had only one error off her 11 kills in 18 total attacks. Mary Sabatino had 13 digs to lead the squad while Davis and Tara Greene followed with 11 apiece. Kati Knutson led the Chanticleer in kills with nine while Sarah Bennett’s and Katie Knutson’s 11 digs was good enough for the team high.

The College of Charleston opens Southern Conference play this weekend as it travels to UNC Greensboro Sept. 21 for a 7:00 PM game before heading to Davidson the next day for a 2:00 PM start. Coastal Carolina will travel to the Towson State Invitational this weekend in Baltimore, Maryland.
