CONWAY, S.C.-- The Coastal Carolina (11-6, 3-1 Big South) volleyball team defeated Winthrop, 3-1 (30-28, 30-24, 29-31, 30-25), in Big South Conference Volleyball action, Friday evening in Kimbel Arena.

The Lady Chanticleers had three players collect double-digits in kills, led by Katie Knutson, who had 18. Jeanne Lambert and Carly Draudt recorded 16 and 10 respectively. Knutson and Lambert also posted double figures in digs with 14 each. Also, junior Sarah Bennett led the Lady Chanticleer defense with a team high 18 digs on the evening. Reigning Big South Conference Freshman of the Week, Jennifer Hampton, had six service aces along with 52 assists and 12 digs, to help CCU when its eleventh match of the season, which surpasses last year's win total of ten.

Leading the way for Winthrop, (15-7, 4-1 Big South) was Logan Pierce who had a match high 21 kills along with 16 digs. Freshman Mary Hock also had a double-double on the evening, recording 16 kills and 11 digs. Lindsey Remmers also paced the Eagle attack with 15 kills, while Jennifer Pritchard had 13.

The Lady Chants will return to Kimbel Arena Saturday at 2 p.m. against UNC Asheville, while Winthrop travels to Charleston Southern for a 2 p.m. match.
