BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Nikki Reddick led three Coastal Carolina players in double figures with 17 points as the Lady Chanticleers defeated Birmingham-Southern 62-48 in women’s basketball Wednesday at Bill Battle Coliseum.

Molly Meeks added 14 points and Cyndie Troutman had 13 points and 11 rebounds for Coastal Carolina, 8-8.

Lindsay Boyett led BSC, 8-10, with 17 points. Candace Byrd had a game-high 12 rebounds for the Panthers, who saw a four-game home winning streak snapped.

The Lady Chants held BSC to just 32.7 percent (17-of-52) shooting, including 4-for-18 (22.2 percent) from the 3-point line, and forced 19 Panther turnovers. CCU, which led 30-22 at halftime, used the outside shooting of Reddick and Meeks to extend its lead to double digits in the second half. The duo was a combined 6-of-13 from the arc.

A 3-pointer by Stacey Anthony pulled the Panthers to within six at 42-36 with 12:17 to play, but that was as close as BSC would get. Coastal led by as many as 17 in the second half at 58-41 with 6:51 left.

Coastal shot 38.3 percent (23-of-60) and outrebounded the Panthers 41-39 behind Troutman and Reddick, who had eight boards each.
