Box Score Volleyball Falls to Liberty 3-1 CONWAY, S.C.–The Coastal Carolina University volleyball team (11-7, 3-1 Big South) had its seven-match winning steak snapped to Liberty University (10-9, 4-0 Big South) in four games Oct. 4, in Conway, S.C. Game scores were 19-30, 30-23, 26-30 and 16-30.
Coastal hit .131 for the match, but was outhitting Liberty after three games. Senior Sarah Bennett (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) led the Lady Chants with 14 kills and 18 digs. Sophomore Katherine Jensen (Vancouver, B.C./Sentinel Secondary) and sophomore Jennifer Hampton (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) both had over 20 digs. Jensen had her 12th double-double of the year with 12 kills and 20 digs, while Hampton led Coastal with 24 digs and added 41 assists.
Sophomore Krista Kimble (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) was apart of five of Coastal’s eight total blocks. Jensen added three block assists.
Liberty was led by Erin McKeown, who had 22 kills and 14 digs. Setter Kristin Colson added 56 assists. Liberty had 10 total blocks, led by Becky Rudnick’s four.
Coastal will travel to Birmingham, Ala., to face Birmingham-Southern College Sunday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m. (CDT).
