Box Score Volleyball Defeats Radford in Four Games RADFORD, Va.– The Coastal Carolina volleyball team (17-9, 8-2 Big South) won its fifth straight match and kept its stronghold on second place in the Big South with a 3-1 win over Radford University (2-23, 1-8 Big South) Nov. 7, in Radford, Va. The Lady Chants won by scores of 30-18, 29-31, 30-24 and 30-19.
Sophomore Katherine Jensen (Vancouver, B.C./Sentinel Secondary) tallied her 20th double-double of the season with a season-high 23 kills and 17 digs. Freshman Alicia Meyers (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley) had a career-high 20 digs to go along with her 13 kills and senior Sarah Bennett (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) was the third Lady Chant with a double-double as she had 12 kills and 17 digs. Bennett also led the Lady Chants with three service aces.
Freshman Laura Obert (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) also had 11 kills for Coastal. Sophomore Jennifer Hampton (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) added 44 assists and 13 digs.
The Lady Chants took an early lead in game one and won 30-18, hitting .343 for the game. The Highlanders came back in game two and had leads of 20-14 and 29-23 before Coastal came back to tie the score at 29. Radford then had the next two points to split the first two games.
Coastal jumped out early in game three, hitting .319 and winning 30-23 and took a 17-5 lead in game four before winning 30-19.
Coastal travels to Lynchburg, Va., to face Liberty University Saturday, Nov. 8, at 4 p.m.
