Women's Basketball Sign Two To Letter-Of-Intent CONWAY, S.C.-The Coastal Carolina University women’s basketball program and head coach Alan LeForce have announced the signings of two student-athletes to letters-of-intent during the early signing period. The Lady Chants will add C.J. Ware (Decatur, Ga./Lakeside) and Kristy Yurichak (Walton Hills, Ohio/Lakeland C.C.) for the 2004-05 school year.
Ware, a 5-6 guard, has been a three-year starter at Lakeside High School in Decatur. She was the team’s Most Valuable Player her junior season and was the region Player of the Month. She also was named the best defensive player and best hustle on the team for the past three years. She plays summer basketball for the Georgia Magics. Ware also is on the National Honor Society of High School Scholars. Ware is the daughter of Cecil and JoAnn Ware of Decatur. She plans on majoring in education at Coastal.
Yurichak, a 6-4 center, started 22 games and averaged 7.6 points, six rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game her freshman season at Lakeland Community College, outside of Cleveland. She was named the Most Improved Player for the Lakers and was a Lake County News Herald Player of the Week. Yurichak played her high school basketball at St. Peter Chanel in Bedford, Ohio. There she was a senior co-captain and two-time varsity letterwinner while helping her team to the state final four her junior season. Yurichak, the daughter of Jack and Carla Yurichak of Walton Hills, is going to major in business at CCU.
The Lady Chants, 3-0 on the season, travel to Greenville, N.C., to compete in the U.S. Cellular Classic Dec. 6-7. The Lady Chants face the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the first round Dec. 6, at 1 p.m.
