CONWAY, S.C.- Despite fighting off second half shooting woes, the Coastal Carolina women's basketball team ended its four-game losing streak with a 53-47 victory over UNC Asheville, Monday night in Kimbel Arena.

For the game, Coastal Carolina shot a cold 24.6 percent (14-57) from the floor, including 3-of-24 (12.5 percent) for the second half. UNC Asheville was just as cold, shooting 33.3 percent (17-51) from the field and 8-of-30 (26.7 percent) in the second half.

The win for Coastal improved its record to 10-12 overall, 5-8 in the Big South Conference, while UNC Asheville fell to 3-21 overall, 0-11 in the Big South.

Leading the way for the Lady Chanticleers was junior guard Nikki Reddick who scored 28 points, including 11-of-13 from the free throw line. Junior guard Whitney Shearer was the only other Lady Chant in double figures with 10. Junior center Crystal Brown led CCU on the boards with eleven rebounds.

UNC Asheville was led by Kristal Hood and Tonisha Jackson who had 13 points each, while Jackson also added a game-high 16 boards. Gillian Murray also tossed in 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Coastal will next host future Big South member Birmingham-Southern on Saturday at 3 p.m., while UNC Asheville will host Radford on Friday at 6 p.m.
