Women's Basketball Reddick A Finalist For Senior Class Award
CONWAY, S.C.- Senior Nikki Reddick (Hartsville, S.C./Hartsville) has been named one of 30 finalist for the Senior CLASS award, sponsored by Bayer Advantage®. The award is presented to the senior male and female NCAA Division I Player-of-the-Year.
The award was launched during the 2001-02 season in response to the recent trend of college basketball players leaving school early to turn professional. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the award was developed to honor seniors for completing their collegiate athletic eligibility.
Reddick has enjoyed a great senior season, in which she leads the Big South and is fourth in the nation in scoring at 21.9 points per game. Reddick has been in double figures all 11 games that Coastal has played, including scoring 36 points in a win over UNC Greensboro, Dec. 6, and scoring 33 points while hitting the game-winning three-pointer in an 83-80 win over Appalachian State, Jan. 3. The senior also became Coastal’s all-time leading scorer, Dec. 16, against UNC Wilmington and now has 1,743 points in her career. She also is third all-time in steals (219) and eighth in assists (258). This season, Reddick is second on the team with 5.4 rebounds a contest and leads the squad with 2.5 assists per game.
There will be 10 finalists selected in early February from the list of candidates. The winner will be announced during the NCAA Women’s Final Four in New Orleans. At the same time, the Bayer Advantage® Senior CLASS Award will also announce First-Team and Second-Team All-Senior All-America teams, based on results from the balloting.
Coastal (6-5, 0-0 Big South) heads to Charleston, S.C., to face Charleston Southern University Saturday, Jan. 10, at 5 p.m., in the Lady Chants’ Big South Conference opener.
