The Coastal Carolina University volleyball team (4-2 ) started the day off right by defeating Central Michigan (2-4) in three games 30-28, 30-17, 30-28 on Saturday morning at Clemson University in the Big Orange Bash.

Coastal was led to the victory by junior Katherine Jensen (Vancouver, B.C./Sentinel Secondary (Ole Miss)) who had 14 kills and 15 digs. Junior Jennifer Hampton (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) had a good performance as well with 40 assists. Ashley Scheible (Westerville, Ohio/North) had solid all around game with 12 kills and three blocks. Laura Obert (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Mother of Mercy) and Krista Kimble (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) led the blockers with five and four, respectively.

For the game the Chants hit .273 on 45 kills with 15 errors. The Lady Chants outblocked the Chippewas 10-5.

CCU on the road for one more game as they take on College of Charleston at 7 p.m. on Sept. 14.
