Box Score Women's Soccer Falls to UNC Greensboro 7-1 More Information:
The Coastal Carolina University women's soccer team (3-4) gave up six goals in the first 27 minutes to UNC Greensboro (4-2), as the Spartans defeated the Lady Chanticleers 7-1 Sept. 12, in the final day of the UNCG/adidas Classic in Greensboro, N.C.
The Spartans came out firing in the first five minutes with four shots, but sophomore Jaclyn Stoll (Fairfax Station, Va./Hayfield Secondary) denied UNCG's best chance, a point blank shot by Deven Beacham. Greensboro did get on the board on its fifth shot as Beacham scored off a feed from Rakel Logadottir at 9:59. The Spartans converted on a Coastal turnover at 12:15 as Mary Kate Towne scored an unassisted goal. UNCG made it 3-0 on a corner kick goal from Amy Carnell at 15:54. Beachum had her second goal of the game at 18:28 with an assist from Tyson Davis. Coastal scored on its first shot when junior Bobbie Parsons (Portugal Cove, Newfoundland/Prince of Wales) put in a shot in the left conrer on an assist from senior Erin Blevins (Xenia, Ohio/Coker). Carnell scored her second goal of the game at 23:13 on an assist from Nicollette DeLaine. Four minutes later, Jessica Patterson connected on UNCG's sixth goal off a feed from Shannon Donovan.
In the first 45 minutes, UNCG outshot the Lady Chants 15-4 and had a 9-0 corner-kick advantage. Stoll had four first-half saves.
The Spartans tacked on another goal in the second half as Towne scored her second goal on a pass from Carnell. Stoll had six more saves in the second half, tallying a career-high 10 saves.
Coastal was outshot by the Spartans 24-8, while UNCG had a 15-0 corner-kick advantage. Parsons had three shots, while junior Rachel Devine (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown) added two.
Parsons and junior Kristina Fisher (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Coastal opens a three-game homestand Wednesday, Sept. 15, as the Lady Chants face Longwood at 4 p.m.
