Box Score Volleyball Falls to Dayton in Four Games Coastal won the first match but drop the next three

The Coastal Carolina University volleyball team (0-1) fell to host University of Dayton (1-0) in four games in the first night of the Dayton Invitational, September 3 in Dayton Ohio. The Lady Chants won the first game 30-24 but then dropped the next three games 26-30, 28-30, 26-30.
Coastal can out firing in the first game recording 20 kills and a .333 hitting percentage to Dayton’s 12 and a .281 percentage but then the next three games Dayton had advantage with 45 combined kills to the CCU’s 30.
Junior Katherine Jensen (Vancouver, B.C./Sentinel Secondary) led the Lady Chants with 17 kills, while juniors Krista Kimble (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) and Jennifer Hampton (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) were the other two Coastal players to register double figure kills with 11 and 10, respectively. Kimble was also one of five CCU players in double figures in digs. She recorded 14. Hampton had a triple-double, adding 43 assists and 13 digs.
For the match, the Chanticleers hit.146 on 60 kills and 35 errors. Dayton outblocked the Lady Chants 12-8.
CCU will continue their play in the Dayton Invitational with two matches tommorrow. The first game is set to begin at 10:30 a.m.against West Virginia with a second game to follow at 5 p.m. against Tennessee Tech
