Box Score Volleyball Wins Second Game of Day, Places Second in Tournament More Information:
The Coastal Carolina University volleyball team (2-1) defeated Tennessee-Tech in their second game of the day in four matches 31-29, 29-31, 30-19, 30-22 for their second win of the season. Earlier in the morning Coastal defeated West Virginia in three matches.
Junior Jennifer Hampton (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) had a great all around performance with a game-high 51 assists to go along with 11 digs and seven kills. Junior Katherine Jensen (Vancouver, B.C./Sentinel Secondary (Ole Miss)) led the Lady Chants with 20 kills and 16 digs. Sophomore Laura Obert (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Mother of Mercy) was the other CCU player in double figures with 12 kills. While sophomores Ashley Scheible (Westerville, Ohio/ North) and Kristine Rinne (Fountain Hills, Ariz/ Fountain Hills) each recorded eight blocks.
Both Hampton and Jensen would be named to the Dayton Invitational All-Tournament Team for their performances.
For the match, the Chanticleers hit.303 on 67 kills and 21 errors. The Lady Chants also outblocked Tennessee Tech 13-4.
CCU volleyball will next be in action later this week as they will play against Clemson and Louisiana-Lafayette in the Clemson Invitational on Friday, September 10th beginning at 1 p.m.
